I spy with my little eye

This was taken while tromping through a cold desert trail inside Wupatki National Monument.

This critter let me get surprisingly close. It was one of three I saw that day, joining the ground sparrows that flitted in and out of the underbrush with each crunch of the frozen earth beneath my shoes.
