Another week, another hurricane..

Jeanne came and went, making it the fourth to hit Florida and the third to affect my house. Big Whoop. Unfortunately, it did a lot more roof damage than Frances. I've finished just shy of half of the repairs. Photos here. FEMA isn't giving me a dime, as expected.. and on Wednesday, I finally get to see an adjuster for the damage that Frances caused. On the plus side, I'll have replaced ~1/3 of my roof by the time this is all done. On the down side, I need to replace everything, including some of the backing plywood.

The last two weeks have seen me go through many books and movies, mostly due to the hurricane. Books on tape are a great way to spend time on the road -- and time on the roof:

Books: * Runaway Jury (tape) (John Grisham) * Icarus Hunt (tape) (Timothy Zahn) * God's Debris (Scott Adams) * Slaughterhouse-Five (Kurt Vonnegut) * Treason (Orson Scott Card)

Movies: * Xiu Xiu, The Sent-Down Girl * Resident Evil 2 * Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow

And finally.. * Hikaru No Go (Anime)

There are, of course, many things on the pending list, but they'll take a back seat until I finish the roof work. Fortunately we don't have any big storms pending, but I'd still like to finish it all by this weekend. It would have been done this weekend, except Saturday was Crystal's birthday and I took her out to Naples for a good time. We crashed a wedding. Photos up later tonight. :)

I'm taking care of Crystal's Iguana for the next week or so (until I see her again) as there are room inspections this week. I'm not sure when I'll see her again -- the next "vacation" is over Thanksgiving.

Lots of thinking time these past two weeks too. That's always dangerous. But that's for another time. And for when I'm rested. Things are always better when you're rested.
